Editorial Review for Hudson River Cafe – by Justin Hartung
In Short
The Hudson River Café may lack views of the titular river, it does have its own version of dramatic scenery. The large two-story patio gets buzz not only from its stylish Harlem clientele and live bands, but also from the occasional Amtrak train whizzing by mere feet away. The eclectic menu delves into oceanic eating--seviche, a raw bar and a lobster roll--and more earthbound fare like skirt steak with yucca fries and a half chicken with truffle mashed potatoes.

Went there with an old friend. The food was good, the decor is very nice, and the food and staff wer great. We definitely enjoyed ourselves.
Pros: Great staff

First I would like to state I am a huge supporter of my neighborhood eateries! I went there with my husband, my best friend and her daughter to celebrate (prom). $10 valet is a rip off when at Cova down the street it is free... after we pay valet hostess ask do we have a reservation --- no we did not but she says give me 5 minutes let me see if something is available. Well the place was pretty empty and we get a seat inside. Now for food, my husband is a big fan of chumichuri sauces and they had an entree (steak) that came with 3. My question is since when is Ketchup a chumichurri sauce? Steak for both my husband and I were over done we ordered medium. Wings that were ordered were okay. The pork chops looked great but were hard to cut into (overcooked) and the chicken was okay. Service was not great as we could never find our waiter when we needed a steak knife. The water boy was always ready to serve up the water. It took forever to get our check. We will not go back anytime soon.
Pros: Ambiance
Cons: Expensive bad food and ketchup is not a chumichurri sauce
