Editorial Review for The Baggot Inn – by Citysearch Staff

In Short
The former Cottonwood (home to late-'80s aspiring singer/songwriters like Lisa Loeb) has been reincarnated with local New York and NYU folk and folk-rock, bluegrass jams, poetry readings and open-mic nights. Boasting exposed brick and a friendly staff, as well as many up-and-coming artists in the city, this is the place to catch everything from solo acoustic acts to eight-piece salsa combos. Though not roomy, the layout is conducive to large groups.

This bar is officially CLOSING in a week and they have stopped all customer service. DO NOT GO! I went there to see a some bands recently and was shocked by the drunk, mean and insulting bartenders who refused to serve drinks (at a bar?). My friends and I had to leave after being cussed out by them (there was no provocation). Not a good idea to insult a bunch of attractive girls if you are a bar. The waitress apparently quit so there was no wait staff either. It's the same owner as Dempsey's Pub and Slainte Bar & Lounge - not ever going there either. What happened to Irish hospitality? I look forward to publishing my next review on these bars. Can you say ZERO rating!?

Pros: None

Cons: Nasty bartenders, dirty bar that is closing now anyway, used to be good

On the way out, the doorman, who didn't do much of anything, felt it necessary to say, "Hope you and your boyfriend have a good night." Very nice.
